OCDSB Community Service Forms

OCDSB Community Service Forms
Posted on 08/28/2022

As you know, all students must complete 40 Community Service Hours as part of their diploma requirements. The Ministry of Education has provided information to describe activities that are eligible and activities that are ineligible.  The OCDSB has recently updated our OCDSB Guidelines for Community Service Hours and Log Sheet to highlight that information to support families and students in planning to complete these hours. This information can be found on our District website.

Please note that Community Involvement Hours must fall into one of these categories:

  • Not-for-profit: includes voluntary activities for any non-for profit institution or foundation that would not displace a paid worker.
  • For-profit: includes voluntary activities that are charitable-based for any business or organization that would not displace a paid worker. If volunteers are enhancing a product/service being sold/provided by a for profit business designed to make it more attractive and/or a better experience for clients, then it  is not in keeping with the spirit of community service and would not be an approved activity.
  • Other: community support that you feel warrants consideration.  In this case, please submit a brief written summary that explains how this experience meets the spirit and expectations of Community Involvement as identified above.

We understand that many students are already logging hours on the previous version of our log sheet.  Those forms will continue to be accepted as we transition into the use of the new form.
