Geographic Boundary Information
Please note that there are geographic boundaries related to applying to Merivale High School’s IB Programme.
- A student's designated International Baccalaureate school is determined by their home address.
- The IB School Locator Tool will identify a student's designated site. More detailed information on the catchment areas is available on the OCDSB website.
Application Procedure for entry September, 2023
Students currently in grades 8 and 9 are invited to apply for the 2023-2024 school year by submitting their application documents via this link.
All applications are digital and all requested documents should be provided in a PDF format.
Please do not include any personal or identifying information on or in your uploaded documents or their file names.
Student applications and portfolio pieces will be assigned an individual computer-generated application code. Your uploaded files will automatically be attached to your application digitally upon submission.
The following documents are required to be uploaded as part of the application.
- A copy of their most recent reporting document from their current school
- A teacher reference – interested applicants should approach a current teacher in advance to determine if they are willing to act as a reference for them and obtain their professional email address. Teacher references will be contacted by the IB Coordinator via email in January.
Additionally, as part of the application interested candidates will complete and upload the following.
And finally, applicants will choose a date for the following task.
- A live IB Application Mathematics Task
- Applicants will choose a date and time when submitting their application – there are two dates provided.
- Applicants are only to select ONE of the dates to complete the task.
All material that is submitted as part of this application is evaluated. Please consult the application documents for particular information.

IB WORLD SCHOOL TRANSFER INFORMATION
If you are currently attending an IB World School as a 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student, please use the link to complete the 2023-24 IB Transfer Application. Transfers are accommodated where possible and space permitting.
